What Our Guests Say

We had a great time at Karen’s place. We just stayed for a night on our way to New Orleans, but this was a great spot close to the main street of Mobile. The house is very cozy and cute, and actually reminded me of the house of Pippi Longstocking! How could you say no to staying there? I would definitely recommend the place!

Beautiful and lovingly restored inside and out! Plenty of shared room inside, full of local art. Wrap around porch and balconies off some rooms. Convenient to everything in downtown Mobile. Beds are so comfortable. Well worth the price for the ambiance and comfort provided. I loved staying here, I highly recommend it!

Charming home that is close to the cruise ship port and Dauphin Street restaurants, bars, shopping. They provide free parking and shuttle to the cruise port if you are going on a cruise. Karen the owner is very friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend staying here.We had a great time at Karen’s place. The house has so much charm, you can see from the moment you walk up the steps onto the very inviting porch. We were greeted our entire stay by two of the most adorable greeters. Everything was clean, the house had a great vibe, perfect location as there were a variety of restaurants in walking distance. It was truly our home away from home.

About the House

The Mardi Gras House is located on quiet Church Street East, beneath Mobile’s shady live oak trees, and steps away from the downtown dining and entertainment district. Comfortable rooms come with complimentary continental breakfast, free off-street parking, wi-fi, and DirecTV in each room. Private bedrooms have en-suite or shared bathrooms and King, Queen, or Full-size beds. Rates start at $75 per night, with great deals for extended stay guests and price-matching for corporate lodging per diem. This is a prime location for your downtown events, Mardi Gras festivities, and Cruise ship launch.

This magnificent painted lady house was commissioned in 1899 by Frank Petrinovich as a boarding house. Petrinovich was a first-generation American, born of immigrant parents from Croatia and Ireland, who was accountant for the City of Mobile. This 2.5 story Victorian house was designed by architect James Hutchisson, one of five generations of architects that designed numerous homes, building, and churches in Mobile including the Mobile Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception just 4 blocks away. The house underwent major renovations from 2012 to 2015 and now offers modern amenities along side the beauty of its historic grandeur.
